John Rayner's Cottage

John Rayner's Cottage
(built c.1570)

This house has changed little in the 440 years since John Rayner* built it. He must have been a problem neighbour - his name appears as defendant in the records of the Foxton manorial Court for 17 of the years from 1541 through 1586!
Rayners lived here for over a century.

John Rayner himself must have been a man of substance in village terms, as he owned two other houses in Foxton.
